“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey.

It is with great joy and pride that I introduce myself as the Head of School of Kamala Niketan International School, an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Candidate School. With 40 years of experience in the field of education, including 20 years in leadership roles, I have been associated with the IB PYP for the past 25 years. Embracing my roles as IB Evaluator, Consultant, and Workshop Leader, I travel across the world, learning, sharing, and bringing back valuable insights to the educational platform. I believe that every child is unique, curious, and capable of achieving greatness when nurtured in the right environment.

At Kamala Niketan, we embrace the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate, which encourages inquiry, reflection, and action. Our school is not just a place to gain knowledge but a space where children and adults learn together as a community. We believe education is not about competition or comparison; rather, it is about collaboration, creativity, and growth.

In our journey of learning, mistakes are seen as opportunities. I often remind our students that failure is not a person—it is only a moment. What truly matters is how we learn from our experiences and move forward with resilience and confidence.

We aspire to create a joyful and safe learning environment where children can explore, question, imagine, and express themselves freely. A strong leadership team and dedicated teachers act as facilitators, guiding students to become compassionate, principled, and lifelong learners.

Parents and students are our most valued partners in this journey. Together, we can ensure that our children experience the joy of learning every single day. I warmly invite you to join hands with us in making education not only meaningful but also a happy and enriching experience for every child.

As we continue this journey, let us commit to nurturing responsible global citizens who will carry forward the values of respect, integrity, and empathy into the world.

Warm Regards,
Subbalakshmi Bulusu,
Head of School,
Kamala Niketan International School

“Building bridges between learning and life — where every child and every story matters.”

Hello, I’m Preethi M, the PYP Coordinator at Kamala Niketan International School and an IBEN Programme Leader. My journey as an IB educator since 2013 has been one of deep reflection, discovery, and purpose.

Over the years, I have worn many hats — as a homeroom teacher, specialist coordinator, programme coordinator, and now as a programme leader — each experience strengthening my belief that true education nurtures both the head and the heart.

At Kamala Niketan International School, every day in the Primary Years Programme is a reminder that learning is not confined to classrooms — it is a journey of curiosity, reflection, and growth. As the PYP Coordinator, I have the privilege of witnessing our young learners question, explore, and connect their understanding to the real world.

From my younger years, I often wondered — where does the bridge truly lie between what we learn in school and how we live in the real world? The International Baccalaureate stands right there — as the bridge that connects learning with life. The PYP empowers students to see learning as a lifelong adventure where inquiry, collaboration, and reflection help them make sense of the world around them.

We also believe that, just as every child is unique, every family is unique too. As a school, we value individuality — ensuring that every learner feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Inclusion is not a policy here; it is the essence of who we are. The IB philosophy reminds us that every child’s voice matters, and diversity enriches every classroom conversation.

For me, the PYP is not just a curriculum framework — it’s a way of life that nurtures balanced, principled, and compassionate learners who grow into responsible global citizens, ready to shape a better and more empathetic world. Each day in this journey reminds me that education isn’t about arriving at perfection, but about evolving — as learners, as educators, and as human beings.

Kind Regards,
Ms. Preethi.M,

IBEN PYP Programme Leader.
