Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, The annual festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, was celebrated at Kamala Niketan Montessori School on Monday, 3rd September.Janmashtami is afestival for singing, dancing, praying together, preparing and sharing special food.The students of primary division participated with great enthusiasm. They divided themselves into various committees, such as cultural committee, decoration committee, prasatham committee,etc. They decorated the hall with colourful flowers and adorned Krishna’s idol with garlands. The students drew tiny foot prints from corridor to the idol of Krishna, as per the belief that Krishna would be walking towards their school, a symbolism for Krishna’s journey into their lives. The function started in the presence of the school correspondent, Mrs.Geethanjali Sathiamoorthy and the principal, Mrs. Mala Sivakumar. The children sang bhajans on Lord Krishna, and the dancers danced for the Krishna songs. The small kids came in Krishna’s costumes with flute looked and looked very pretty and cute. After the Pooja, the prasatham was distributed to all, which was prepared by the students using the ingredients like poha, jaggery and coconut.
